  Oh for god's sake. I was referring to one simple point. Brits hold themselves up as tolerant, but for the most part aren't tolerant. Whereas openly intolerant people who come to Britain make no such claim. I was calling them anything but noble, quite the opposite. You're just misunderstanding everything I say.

  You've resorted to gotcha moments yourself. You're trying to win rather than reason. I'm not going to stoop to that low level.

  And if I, a white UK citizen, attacked an immigrant regardless of the immigrant's colour, I wouldn't be racist. According to you.

  That might be the worst attempt at a gotcha moment I've ever witnessed. My answer is no, it wouldn't necessarily be racist, it would depend on your motive for attacking them.

  So, the Sentinelese aren't racist; they're tribalist.

  Right and wrong aren't useful terms.

  It's not doing the world any favours. War ultimately stems from tribalism, let's not forget. Historical wars over resources stemmed from a tribe's belief that their tribe was more entitled to those resources than the neighbouring tribe, etc. Nothing is truly gained from tribalism. If you think your tribe has better ideas than other tribes, then surely it would be better to invite other tribes in so that they can learn of your ideas. It's idealistic, but without ideals, what do we have to strive for.

  I fundamentally disagree.

  I used to be on your side on this, but I've re-examined British values over the years and I've come to the conclusion that our values are nothing more than paper. I've mentioned pluralism, but it's not really a British value because most people in Britain hate the idea of living with people who don't agree with them. We don't stand by our values and for that reason I don't think we can complain if others start migrating in who don't share them. They're just less hypocritical than us. The Brits aren't a true monolith, but we are monolithically hypocritical.

  During the second world war, during the blitz, when people's houses were bombed out, one of the biggest problems was looting. We romanticise how Brits came together during that time, but the reality was that people were out for themselves. What are we truly preserving? A mere 60 years ago we were forcing homosexuals to undergo hormone therapy, we can't pretend we have a long tradition of tolerance.

  If the UK became majority American or Australian I would be pissed off.

  Fine but I don't think immigration policy should be constructed based simply on whether it pisses people off or not. There are bigger issues at stake than cultural preservation at this point.

  I think my big issue with the skin colour talk is that it misses the point of what truly makes us different. It's what's in our heads that makes us different. I have a lot of non-white acquaintances and they are as varied as any random group. It's more that than the racism angle that irks me. Although, it is racist, let's not kid ourselves.

  Please explain how we get from there to a society where White British are a minority without astonishing levels of immigration?

  Oh come on, I never spoke of the plausibility, I was arguing on principle. Could it happen overnight? No. Could it even happen in several decades with present levels of immigration? No. But would it be a bad thing if eventually the UK was majority non-white? I'll leave that for you to answer.

  It certainly could happen with moderate levels over a period of centuries and that would be fine by me. LUHE seems to want the UK to remain majority-white indefinitely and there simply isn't any justification for this. If LUHE had said majority-democratic or majority-pluralist or even majority-non-Muslim, I'd have no such issue.
